My Current Obsessions | Most-Loved High-End MakeupFriday, November 25, 2016
I've finally round up my top picks for my high end favourites. These certainly might change in the future but so far these has been my go-to for a pretty long time.
PRIMER & FOUNDATION
Becca Backlight Priming Filter is a great primer to layer underneath or mix in with your foundation to achieve that glow-y look. I like that it isn't shimmery and glittery. It just looks like you have healthy skin. A tiny pump of this will do the job. I love the scent of this too.
NARS Sheer Glow Foundation Light 3 Gobi has been my go-to high end foundation for a long long time. It gives a skin like finish with medium build-able coverage. I have received many compliments while wearing this foundation. This does not make you glow-y at all. It has a satin finish that just looks like you're not wearing foundation but still giving you decent coverage.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer Light Warm is another long time favourite. This is a lightweight concealer that blends out like a dream and covers them dark circles considerably well. Not FULL coverage but it's build-able. I like using this with a damp beauty sponge or my fingers.
HERA UV Mist Cushion Ultra Moisture has got to be the best cushion among all my higher end ones. My personal favourite is actually a high street brand, CLIO's Kill Cover cushion but this is pretty good too. HERA's cushion is moisturizing and dries down to a demi-matte finish. It lasts pretty well in a humid environment too. I wore this to Bangkok earlier this year and it performed really well.
MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural Light is one of the powders that doesn't dries me out. It sets my makeup nicely and I sometimes carry this around for touch ups.
My taste in blush is pretty boring and I like to stick to the neutral nudey pinks and mauves. I have swatched all of them side by side below so you can tell that only NARS Blush in Madly is a warmer and deeper shade than the other two. I like to use it alone without any contour or bronzer.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure and Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed are more neutral with my favourite pinky nude and mauve that looks good with pretty much any makeup.
Too Faced Sweethearts Bronzer in Sweet Tea is my favourite glow-y bronzer that gives you the sun kissed look. I apply this with a duo-fibre brush for a more blended look.
Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow is my all time favourite non-shimmery bronzer. This actually has a little bit of sheen which I prefer and looks very flattering paired with a simple neutral blush. The glow in the palette is one of the prettiest natural looking highlight I own.
Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Highlight 01 is a gorgeous light champagne shade that looks pretty 'natural' but also can be built up to an intense highlight.
Violet Voss Holy Grail Palette (review & swatches) made the cut because this is the only more expensive palette I reach for most of the time. I was debating between this and the Too Faced Chocolate Bar. They came so close and I almost wanted to include both. But AS OF THIS MOMENT, the HG palette won. My favourite shade has got to be Cool Beans - love it all over the lids.
NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Isolde is a warm-lover's dream. It pairs so well together and you can pretty much create an entire look with just this and maybe a matte transition shade.
Benefit Roller Lash Mascara is the only mascara that lasts and holds my curl throughout the day. Most mascara smudges and transfers on me but this by far performed the best.
NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anita has been my favourite for quite a while now. No need further introduction, the Audacious line carries the best lipstick in the industry. They are pigmented, great longevity and comfortable!
Dose of Colors Matte Liquid Lipstick in Bare With Me is the only nude liquid lipstick that will last on me, without giving me the disgusting butt-hole lip. I wore this through a 5 course dinner and it still looked perfect when I got home! How amazing is that.
Dior Addict Lip Glow in Pink is a sheer natural pink lip balm. It may not look like anything special in the swatch but I swear this looks so good! I received this as a gift awhile back and I probably will repurchase this soon (despite the crazy price tag).
To be honest, I was more excited to do my drugstore/affordable makeup obsessions than the high end. But, good and pricey things with pretty packagings is just hard for me to stay away from. Let me know what your high end or luxury favourites are! Maybe I'll check them out when I'm feeling spendy~
